THE REVERSE ENGINEERS
The Reverse Engineers are James Earthenware (Process Worker) and Loscha (Electronics Student). Forming at Undue Noise in Bendigo, Mid 2003, Loscha was performing as his avant guard solo project "Koba No Gomi" and James was digging the sounds and writing a review. Finding a similar interest in experimental electronic music and obsolete technology in general they decided to join forces.
They played their first show at The Good Morning Captain in Collingwood. This impressed Melbourne chip music icon Casionova and resulted in a couple of support slots with him. Malcolm Mclaren then made his bold statement that "Chip Music" would be the next big thing. This announcement was featured in newspapers worldwide and as a result the media came searching for chip music celebrities.
Subsequently Casionova and the Reverse Engineers received their five minutes of fame, being featured on ABC TV's "Mondo Thingo" program and The Sunday Age newspaper. James Earthenware also found his track "The Actor" featured on the W.Minc compilation "Melbourne Water" which apparently received Triple J airplay despite it's lo-fi recording aesthetic.
Further excitement has been building lately in Bendigo, with Loscha playing regularly at "The Vine" covering old computer-game soundtracks, showing off his keyboard skills and further tapping into the demand for 80's nostalgia. Meanwhile James Earthenware has been taking time out to write new material for the album and find a nursing home for his elderly grandmother.
The summer looks promising for the Reverse Engineers as their comrade Casionova will soon be returning to Europe to chase chip music fame and glory. The Engineers are planning to fill some of the void by releasing their "Home Entertainment" CD and making up for their past record of only "token" live performances.
